big life changes

It is no secret that I have always had a passion for orphans and orphan care, after all, part of the purpose of this blog is to raise awareness of the plight of orphans around the world. So it only made sense when six months ago Jared and I made the decision to adopt a child from Africa. We wanted to keep it quiet for awhile to make sure we could find a country to adopt from and an agency to work with. In Saskatchewan we don’t have any adoption agencies and very few in Canada work with couples from other provinces so it took us awhile to find an agency that would work with us.

I’m sure I will go into greater detail over the next while, but from now I’ll just give you the basics: our plan is to adopt a child or two (either a boy or a girl) that is 6 months to 2 years old from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The process is supposed to take about 1.5-2 years, we wanted to have our adopted child/children younger than Raeca so that was how we came up with our age range.

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
John 14:18

Just as Christ has adopted us into His family as His children, we would like to welcome a child or children into our family through adoption.

We would appreciate your prayers as we go through the process, for wisdom, the home study, finances, that we will get all the paperwork in order, for everyone involved and for our little one(s), only God knows if they have been born already and what their situation is that leaves them with the need to be adopted.

with love,
Chantel

  1. Very big new, Chantel! The adoption journey is an emotional roller coaster! We just finally welcomed home our son this December from Ethiopia! In spite of all the trials and tribulations, it was worth the wait and he has blessed our family immensely. Prayers are with you!

  2. This is really exciting Chantelle! My husband and our community here in Ontario will keep you in prayers.
    Much love
