Tala Game Reserve
One thing we knew we wanted to do while in South Africa was see some animals! When we were in Uganda a few years ago we saw nothing (well, except birds but those aren’t all that interesting) and so we didn’t want to leave Africa a second time without seeing some big animals.
While we were in South Africa we only had a rental car for the first few days of our trip and then after that we got driven around by Tezz at Bonana Tours & Transfers, we asked her where would be the best place to see some animals and she recommended Tala Game Reserve.
When she picked us up that morning she asked Raeca what animal she really wanted to see with Raeca responding with “a giraffe!” and so that was our goal of the day. Thankfully Jared spotted them while we were still on the road heading into the game reserve so Tezz knew exactly which road to take once we were there to go see them.
That day we were able to see every animal they have at Tala, we saw numerous zebras, kudu, impala, nyala, about two dozen giraffes, hippos, the cutest warthog babies and more!
If you are thinking about checking out Tala I would definitely recommend getting a tour by Tezz, she knew the roads, places where the animals usually hang out and was a wealth of knowledge about the different animals. Raeca loved looking through her animal book to find the different kinds of animals we were seeing. The game reserve would definitely not have been the same had we just driven through ourselves.
Now, please excuse me as I overload you with photos . . .
so, so neat! 🙂 zebras are so gorgeous! i would never want to leave! i love the picture you got of the deer with her young! so precious!
These are amazing photos! I would love to go on an animal safari. So much better than a zoo! ha!
Love the giraffes, zebras, and the shot of the hippo coming out of the water!
