advocate

We live in a broken and needy world. A world with so many problems that it is easy to feel overwhelmed when thinking about them.

Orphans, human trafficking, poverty, hunger, abortion, and the list goes on.

Some people are fortunate enough to have a passion for a particular cause at a young age, others, while outraged at the injustice, are not drawn into a particular cause and therefore are silent, rather than becoming advocates like we are called to be.

In the next few weeks I am hoping to cover all the topics listed above, and more. Each post will feature a cause, some stats, and more importantly: links, resources and ways for you to get involved and take action.

It is my hope and prayer that if you don’t feel a passion for a particular cause now, you will in a few weeks.

I think often so many of us feel like because we are moms we don’t have the time/resources/energy to advocate for such causes but I think this is where we are wrong. We can do both, we should do both. One of my favorite verses is Acts 9:36 “There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas). She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor.” Because we are believers we are called to be the best mothers we can to our children, but we are also called to help others. And bonus: think about what a great teaching tool it is for your children to see you advocating for the less fortunate.

I am currently researching different causes and organizations, if you have any organizations you would recommend or would like me to research, let me know!

The photo below is from our trip to Uganda last year -this woman was doing back breaking labor in a rock quarry for pennies, all while carrying a baby on her back.

I am so excited to start this series! Imagine what would happen if each of us helped save just one person as a result? Imagine what a witness we could be for Christ!

with love,
Chantel
