the best part about adoption

No matter what type of adoption people go through (domestic, private, international . . .) I have always thought the very best part about adoption is when you finally have that child in your arms. For some that comes before the legal part is finalized and for some it comes after.

For my friend, Marie, that day came this week:

(I stole this photo from her Facebook -hope she doesn’t mind!)

She traveled alone to China to pick up Jackson, their fifth child -the third through adoption.

Her and her husband have amazing adoption stories and I would love it if you would head over to her blog today to support and encourage her, I know the journey has not all been easy for them.

And I am excited for next week – I’ll be waiting at the airport at midnight as they come in, it will be my very first time welcoming an adopted child home and I couldn’t be more excited.

Congratulations Martin and Marie!

with love,
Chantel

    Here We Go!

It’s airplane day (as Raeca would say)! This afternoon we start our 36 hour journey from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Durban, South Africa. I mentioned  a few days ago that I was starting to get a little overwhelmed with the money side of adoption. While I do know that the money will come together one way or another when I look at some of the totals I can’t help but feel a little stressed. We (obviously) want to…

    many thanks

Thank you to everyone for your messages and words of encouragement over our news last week. While it is a let down I know God’s hand is in this in a major way just by the peace that we feel. We still don’t know where we are going from here but in the last week…
