Foster care update

okay, let’s do this old school blogging

I haven’t kept up with sharing our foster care journey here on the blog for the last while.

Here’s the last six months in a nutshell:

  • we took in another placement, a three year old boy back in July
  • in September R2D2 & BB8 went home
  • a week after that the three year old boy left our home
  • in November R2 and BB8 came for a planned sleepover
  • in December we decided to officially close our home

And one more to add to the list: R2 and BB8 are currently at our house for the weekend and maybe longer . . .

Just when you think you know what is going on with fostering a curveball gets thrown.

I’ll unpack this more in the future but just wanted to throw out a quick update.

Here’s a look at our foster care timeline.

  1. Fostering is so hard and so rewarding/draining at the same time. We had 6 kiddos come through our house in a year, and the last one we were told would be staying for quite a while, and then they yanked her with no notice to her and less than 24 hours for us (and we were out of state visiting family when we were told and had to come home and then have her taken out of her home). They were not going to tell her at all, which I did not understand, and forced them to tell her. They decided they would put her with grandparents she had never met. After that, we closed our house. We recently moved to a new state and I think about fostering again, I just don’t know if we have it in us, although I know it is such a need! God is in control and while this is unexpected to you, He knows what He is doing. Praying for you all during this time. Cindy

  2. I miss all the old school blogs, so I’m looking forward to yours!
Isn’t it funny how God does that sometimes đŸ™‚
I’m glad you are there to give R2 and BB8 a safe, stable, and loving home.
Praying for them and your family.
    Happy New Year!
